Free Markets, Regulation, and the Occupy Movement

“The fact of the matter, however, is that all regulators are captured by banks. Or, to be a little more precise, all legislatures are captured by banks, and all regulators do what the government tells them to do.” Felix Salmon

I completely agree with their stance regarding bailouts and corruption; however, I’m pretty sure most Occupy protestors aren’t familiar with public choice theory.

Unfortunately, by blaming free markets and calling for greater government regulation and oversight of the economy, some people will unknowingly advocate policies that perpetuate the crony capitalist system that put us in this mess in the first place.
